Finding the Courage to Let Go

There are seasons in life when growth doesn't come from adding more, it comes from having the courage to LET GO.

This was the intention behind our Courage to Let Go Reiki Healing Circle. We spent the evening focusing on the Solar Plexus Chakra, which is our energetic center of confidence, self-worth, courage, personal power and the ability to trust ourselves.

When this chakra is balanced, we tend to move through life with confidence and clarity. We make decisions that honor who we are instead of living from fear. We set healthier boundaries, trust our intuition and feel worthy of taking up space.

But when it's out of balance… WE ARE HEAVY!!!

It may look like second guessing ourselves, staying in situations that we've outgrown, people pleasing, shrinking ourselves to make other people comfortable and continuing with habits, thought patterns and cycles that no longer align with the person we're becoming.

As we sat together in the circle, one question kept coming up… What am I ready to let go of?

The answers were something that we all could resonate with at some time in our lives:

Fear.

Playing small.

Relationships and environments that no longer feel safe.

Habits that no longer serve us.

Mindsets that keep us stuck.

The need for approval.

Old versions of ourselves… and repetitive cycles we've been carrying long after the expiration date.

There was something powerful about realizing we weren't alone.

This circle was a little different than the ones we've done before.

We were closer to the person in the middle and really got to FEEL all of the heaviness that she was carrying.

There weren't many words spoken, but somehow... we all understood.

It was a powerful reminder that while our stories may be different, the emotions that we carry are often more alike than we realize.

As we moved from one person to the next, the heaviness became lighter… and the tears became smiles!!!

By the end of the night, every one of us walked away with the same realization… We are not alone in our struggles, healing OR our ability to LET GO!

Serves: 8–10

Ingredients

  • 4–5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs

  • 3 tbsp Jamaican curry powder

  • 1 tsp turmeric (optional, for extra golden color)

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp dried thyme

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 large onion, sliced

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tsp fresh ginger, grated

  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth

  • 2–3 Yukon Gold potatoes, cubed

  • 2 green onions, chopped

  • 1 Scotch bonnet pepper (whole, optional for flavor without too much heat)

Instructions

1. Season the chicken
Mix the curry powder, turmeric, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, salt, and pepper. Coat the chicken well and let it sit for at least 30 minutes (overnight is even better).

2. Brown the chicken
Heat the oil in a large Dutch oven or deep skillet. Brown the chicken for 3–4 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.

3. Build the sauce
In the same pot, sauté the onion for 5 minutes. Add the garlic and ginger for 1 minute.

4. Simmer
Return the chicken to the pot. Add the broth and potatoes and Scotch bonnet (if using).

Cover and simmer until the chicken is tender and the potatoes are cooked.

Taste and adjust salt if needed.
